Akira Hokuto vs. Bull Nakano for the WWWA World Single Championship, from the AJW event held on January 4, 1991

I was expecting a lot more than what I got, considering the talents. They have a decent dynamic going and the match is fun when they play up the plucky babyface (Akira Hokuto, who hadn’t yet developed a persona beyond that) against a monstrous cheater (Bull Nakano), but they lose track of their narrative when they take to working submission holds for whole minutes at a time. There’s some good work done in these exchanges, including a sweet Fujiwara armbar, but it adds nothing to the story and comes across as filler. Both would have much better matches than this.
