1922 (2017 film)

Stephen King novels tend not to translate well into other mediums, but his novellas have a good track record and "1922" is another notch in the win column. It's a simple story devoid of explicit supernatural elements that basically registers as "if "The Tell-Tale Heart" had to fill out a whole film" but works due to fine direction, outstanding performances from Thomas Jane and Molly Parker, and a trickle of damn fine horror. The ending is unfortunately bland and predictable; so is much of the latter third outside of one tangent, actually. Still worth watching if you like slow burns.
