For the moment, let’s put aside how the weekend ended and consider how the first night of WrestleMania weekend went. I won’t go as far as to say it was brimming with classics, but I believe a compelling argument could be made for it being one of the top ten best individual nights of wrestling WWE has ever held, with strong and agreeable pacing, matches generally exceeding expectations, and closing with two outright classic encounters. For one night, WWE put on a major show that left folk excited about their product and its direction going forward. Were that this lasted.
