Titane
“Titane”, for its odd and potentially alienating premise, isn’t much of a theater of the grotesque. It’s about someone with a complicated relationship between physicality, romance, and violence, and in wrestling with their agency in what comes of this internal struggle comes the question of their capacity for empathy and perhaps redemption. I can’t pretend this sort of thing will appeal to all audiences and I reserve no judgement for an audience who rejects all of this, but I was spellbound by this very human film in which a woman has sex with a car in the first twenty minutes.
