The Final Girls (2015 Todd Strauss-Schulson film) (not to be mistaken for the 2015 Tyler Shields film “Final Girl”)

A softball deconstruction of horror films, and a fine argument for such an approach. “The Final Girls” seeks to simply entertain through playing with genre tropes and a side plot that COULD serve as a send-up of hackneyed, unremarkable heart-tugging elements in bad films meant to trick morons into thinking the film has an emotional core (failing that, hey, I’ve singled out the weakest part of this film!). It isn’t long, it keeps its upbeat and likable energy throughout, and most of the jokes are funny, so while there are better films like this, I have no problems recommending it.
