The Expanse (CQB)

The *clang* is the moment that, more than anything else so far, best sums up the show’s charms. You can see the corners being cut to keep this under Sci-Fi Channel’s budget, but “The Expanse” will move Heaven and Earth to make sure the most important special effects, the ones that need to rock the audience to their core, land with the force of a Mike Tyson uppercut. From a writing standpoint, it’s a destabilizing, frightening moment, coming right when the audience believe they have gotten their sea legs. In short, the *clang* announces “The Expanse” is not fucking around.
