The Avengers: Infinity War

After a smattering of surprisingly-great films, eventually, a return to form. "Infinity War"'s sloppy adherence to "four lines, all waiting", combined with tonal whiplash caused by switching between the franchise's beloved small chatter and the super-serious tones required by the A-plot, means you're not watching this story for how it's told but what happens in it, and Marvel fanboys who've filled my FB newsfeed with sentiments like "You need to see Infinity War, THEY KILL (spoiler)" ensured the actual plot holds no surprises, effectively rendering the film nigh-worthless. No adoption jokes, though, so it's still better than the first "Avengers".
