Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (NES version)

I’m enough of a dork that I don’t need to be convinced of the merits of a two-button fighting game—I put dozens of hours into “Power Quest”, I was enchanted with the Switch port of “Match of the Millennium”, and I thought “Divekick” was alright. I can’t say this NES port is anywhere near the top of the class, but for arguably a progenitor of this subgenre, it plays surprisingly well. Throws are OP, the fireball is weird, and HotHead is crazy difficult, but losses and wins felt equally earned, a compliment I can’t pay towards many four-button fighters.
