Skullgirls

There’s a lot of factors to consider in assessing a fighting game, and I’ll grant there are plenty of valid perspectives through which “Skullgirls” shines, especially in terms of making the most of presentation on a budget. The stumbling block, for me, is how the game posits itself as flexible in player expression, but high-level play clearly illustrates stage-spanning combos involving substantial teamwork are the true path to perfect play, and while I never had any aspirations to play this in a tournament, it’s hard to not let this disillusion bleed into casual play. “Them’s Fightin’ Herds” is better, anyway.
