Silence of the Lambs (1991 film)

Jonathan Demme’s second-greatest contribution to pop culture (the first being his role in getting “Bring It On” off the ground) isn’t as terrifying or intelligent as an average episode of “Hannibal” but gets plenty enough right in the execution to warrant a strong recommendation. Buffalo Bill himself is kind of a bore, an unsophisticated villain with a stereotypical serial killer motivation and methods, but every other member of the main cast brings the heat and Demme gives his actors plenty of room to breathe, rendering an air of class to this tale of fools. Acceptable choice for 91’s Best Picture.
