Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

I don't want to say this is a misuse of Cretton's talents. I'd rather see a wild swing than a bunt, metaphorically speaking, I think. With “Shang-Chi”, however, Cretton’s talents as a filmmaker are muted in favor of action that features as much CG as a Pixar film, in a genre renowned for breathtaking yet practical spectacle. Actors best known for their work in groundbreaking masterpieces show up but are given little to chew on; Leung acquits himself well as the antagonist, but Yeoh mostly relays exposition. Silly, stupid, and also, somehow, too serious. This phase of Marvel joints suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks.
