Saw 3

“Saw 3”, in limiting the number of POV characters via laziness, storyline trickery, and straight-up murder, recasts (possibly incidentally) John Kramer, a fine antagonist up to this point, as anti-hero. Without getting into spoilers, most of the drama of this film, including the climax, relies on the audience at least partially buying into his perspective that his methods don’t constitute murder and what he’s doing is actually a good thing, a perspective handily dismissed in previous films by other characters calling him out on his hypocrisy but played straight here. As nihilistic as a Korn album and almost as deep.
