Rey Fenix vs. Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship, from AEW New Year’s Smash 2021 Night One

This was a well-constructed spotfest, and what separates it from every other well-constructed spotfest that seems to happen every two weeks or so is the ability of the involved performers. Fenix and Omega are two of the best performers of the world, so their version of the formula involves mind-blowing stunts no sane person would ask their employees to do (the tornillo countered with a flying kneestrike, goodness, save some bonkers crap for the rest of us). Their positions on the card give away who walks away with the win, but this could lock up several votes come year’s end.
