Pokemon Stadium (Switch version)

Much of the appeal of the standard Pokemon titles comes from planning in between battles: choosing which creatures to prioritize, setting up their moves, and getting your groceries in order before taking a picnic in some of these dungeons. “Pokemon Stadium” cuts right to the battles and unwittingly reveals that, without that time spent attaching Haste to your Snorlax or naming your Zapdos “Benjamin Franklin”, the actual fights don’t have much meat on their bones. Match weaknesses to corresponding Pokemon and you just win. The minigames impress for a round, maybe, and are completely disposable, much like this whole-ass game.
