Paratopic (Switch version played for review)

I'm surprised there aren't more prominent games like Paratopic, a short horror title that uses its PS1 aesthetic to conjure a degree of wrongness with every frame. It throws a lot at you, but the framing lets you connect enough dots to get an idea of what's going on and prods the attentive to find more threads. It ends right when I feel as though it's about to enter a proper third act, but even that feels a shock to the system. It's a "walking simulator" that conveys far more about its universe than many full price AAA games do.
