Mad Max: Fury Road

I thought we were supposed to get a constant stream films that marry new technologies with old-fashioned filmmaking panache by now. The promise of cinema’s second century included more thoughtful blockbusters, ones that were bigger, louder, and contained miles of subtext, all without skimping on character development. Instead, we’ve been plagued with a wave of false idols, garbage like “Avatar”, “Inception”, and “The Avengers”, which would all turn to dust in the face of a true proper masterfully executed blockbuster for the ages. “Terminator 2: Judgement Day”, “Spider-Man 2”, “Hot Fuzz”, “Edge of Tomorrow”, and now “Mad Max: Fury Road”.
