Life With Mikey

"Life With Mikey" isn't anywhere close to being as bad as its 20% score on Rotten Tomatoes would have you believe, but I struggle to call this a worthwhile watch. The setup is alright (former child star coaches streetwise kid with a knack for acting), but the film never kicks into the next gear, feeling more like a ninety-minute TV pilot than a feature film and giving all of its fine cast far less to work with than they deserve. The best joke here is the main character answering "who was our sixteenth President?" with "Carter". Likeable, but deeply flawed.
