Judas and the Black Messiah

I went into this hoping its superlative praise was reflective of more than critics agreeing with the film’s perspective, and praise be, this is the tour de force many have made it out to be, engrossing and absorbing, the sort of film whose two hours like fifteen minutes. An early, strong pick for the best film of 2021, and there’s little doubt Stanfield and Kulaaya will see themselves up for awards at the next Oscars, where they’ll likely lose to Tom Hanks in “Thank God Racism is Over” and Dan Levy in “Unchallenging Comedy Your Friend Won’t Stop Gushing About”.
