Hades (PC version)

“Hades”, for how hard it tries, suffers from the roguelike genre conventions it attempts to upend, including a gameplay loop that can’t sustain itself for as long as it takes to get to the “true” ending and a story that doesn’t add up to much. It isn’t weighed down by these conventions, however, as much as many of its peers are, and the bliss conveyed when all its systems are working might represent some of the most fun gameplay of the year. “Hades” is easily the best roguelike in some time and arguably one of the best in this genre.
