Green Room (2015 film)

Saulnier impressed with his previous “Blue Ruin”, but “Green Room” is a better realization of his skills and might be the greatest film he’ll ever touch. It takes its time in setting up each side of its conflict so when they slip and make crucial errors, they feel like realistic, earned results rather than plot-convenient twists, and without getting into spoilers, the result is that the considerable violence is shocking not just because the effects are fantastic but because it quickly becomes difficult to guess who is going to make it out of this bloodbath intact. A smart, horrifying tale.
