Evil Dead: Hail to the King (PlayStation version)

If you don’t know what to do, you’ll basically wander around flailing aimlessly at enemies until you meet your inevitable demise. If you know what to do, the game is a cakewalk. The tone suggests a fun romp while the tank controls suggest a classically unsettling horror tale; a fatality finishing mechanic is the closest the two get to melding together in a cohesive fashion. The story is a lame attempt at hitting the same basic plot points as the films you’d already had to have seen to understand what’s going on. A “Resident Evil” knockoff that preys on nostalgia.
