El Hijo de Santo y Octagón vs. La Pareja del Terror / Los Gringos Locos (Eddie Guerrero and “Love Machine” Art Barr) (Two Out of Three Falls) (Luchas de Apuestas), from AAA When Worlds Collide

I’m of two minds on this match. The one mind celebrates it as a comic epic that milks meaning out of every moment, leaving the audience rapt from entrances to exits. The other mind celebrates it as a carry job for the ages, with Guerrero and Barr getting a five-star match out of wrestling two broomsticks (fine, Octagón has cool kicks). No matter how I look at this, though, I can’t regard it as anything less than a match for the ages and a fantastic introduction to the merits of lucha libre. If only the heels could’ve worked together longer.
