Dragon Quest (Switch version)

The first “Dragon Quest” title has some of the most celebrated aspects of the franchise in full swing. Towns are vibrant and full of life, the narrative is simple yet engaging, and most combat is only as tough as you want it to be. Grinding for levels, however, is required for all but the most savvy of speed runners, and even with the best weapons, armor, and grinding to a suitable level, completing the game is a crapshoot of dodging sleep spells and praying to RNJesus. An interesting and promising start, but if you want a great RPG, look elsewhere.
