Die Hard (1988 film)

You know how Bret Hart vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13 aimed to closely simulate the beats and rhythms of an actual fight without sacrificing the spectacle that comes with professional wrestling? Well, this holiday film is the action-movie version of that match, with a dastardly quote-machine of a villain going up against a guy that celebrates getting a machine gun, has to bandage his wounds, and occasionally talks himself into justifying what he’s done or about to do. I’m not about to join the chorus line that claims “Die Hard” is GOAT, but it’s plenty outstanding nonetheless.
