Dickinson (Season One)

The greatest downside of Apple’s decision not to bolster their burgeoning streaming platform with established reruns and betting hard on their original content is that a whole lot of people have missed out on one of the best television comedies in some time. “Dickinson”’s loose approach to period serves, like Sofia Coppola’s “Marie Antoinette”, to bring the past to life and make us feel like how the Dickinsons may have felt without abandoning emotional honesty and turning into farce ala “Another Period”. It’s funny, it’s engaging, a giant bee says “WHAZZUP”, it’s worth subscribing to Apple’s bad streaming service for.
