Devil May Cry

“Devil May Cry” is an important game by any measure, offering a proper three-dimensional vision of the traditional brawler that does the legwork of conveying chaotic multi-man brawls and compelling one-on-one boss fights. Is it a good game? No, not really. Dodging is awkward, the importance of weapons is rarely conveyed so you end up using the wrong weapon on enemies forever because you think it’s another part of the game’s considerable difficulty, and wildly flailing at bosses offered a better win ratio than carefully planning out strategies. Such flaws were acceptable in 2001, which was about twenty years ago.
