Death Proof (113-minute cut watched for review)

I recognize this is not for everyone—Tarentino himself is on record as saying this is his worst film. If you can get on board with its weird concept, though (an emulation of two half-finished low-budget films frankenstein’d together in the editing room), you’ll find plenty to enjoy in this one. The grindhouse concept’s tendency towards damaging the image in the first half gets old fast, but underneath that is the usual great sort of Tarentino film full of fantastic acting and tableaus, with this gaining the edge on many of them with its fantastic climax. Hey, I liked it.
