Contagion (2014 video game)
I don’t know that “Contagion” knows what “Contagion” is. It certainly doesn’t know how to motivate a player to keep playing “Contagion”—no skill trees, no unlockables, no reason to relive the same experience multiple times, a brutal strike against an exclusively multiplayer game. Working cooperatively can bring thrills; working competitively gets boring as there’s little reason to not camp given the stipulations. There’s a lore here, a care to the levels that you don’t get in games with higher budgets, and it is a shame that “Contagion” doesn’t bother aiming for a hook. This is work without meaningful purpose.
