Blade Runner (The Final Cut)
"Painful to live in fear, isn't it?"
For as many comparisons there can be made between this and all other landmark SF films, "Blade Runner", to me, is most easily comparable with "The Shining". Both are projects with relatively simple premises that have a world of meaning injected into them thanks to the virtuosic direction of the pioneers behind the camera, trusting the audience to find meaning in the presented images rather than blandly spelling matters out for them. Both, also, are works not understood or accepted in their own time. Such is the benefit of living in the future.
