Battle City (version found in the Switch port of “Namco Museum Archives Volume Two” played for review)

“Battle City” is a game in which you battle in a city; boundless creativity at play, y’all. It’s surprising this has a level editor and how extensive it is for its time, but actual play is frustrating with little reward. It’s about as boring as filing taxes, possibly as a political metaphor for the evil banality of warfare but that’s probably giving it too much credit. Those who love local multiplayer might get mileage out of the level editor, challenging each other with various courses of their own design, but all else would get very little out of “Battle City”.
