Batman Volume Four: The War of Jokes and Riddles

Kite Man being the VIP of the cast isn't because Batman, Joker, and Riddler aren't written well (indeed, this is my favorite incarnation of Riddler to date). King casts Kite Man as the face of the frontline soldiers in a meaningless street war, a man desperate enough to make his own suit and his own caped persona in the hopes of clinging onto some degree of control in his life because everything else has been taken from him. He's hilarious, he's heartbreaking, he's another character King has instilled mountains of ethos onto. One of the greatest Batman stories ever told.
