Ape Out (PC version)

The discourse surrounding “Hotline Miami” skipped right past “is it good” to “why is it good”, foreshadowing a decade of other awful media being placed on a pedestal at the expense of good art. “Ape Out” is an HM copycat that fails for the same reasons that game was terrible (turns out failing the player because they didn’t have information never provided to them isn’t fun), but it also wants to be funny and the joke wore off for me after the umpteenth time failure set me back whole minutes. There’s pretty much nothing here worth celebrating in the slightest.
