Amores Perros

I had been putting off watching this film for over twenty years, and it still managed to exceed my expectations. Alejandro González Iñárritu’s subsequent films, such as “Birdman” and “The Revenant”, are modern masterpieces that have earned him a place among the most respected directors in the world, but his debut may still be his best work, a wrenching anthology film about our capacity for love, how it can be weaponized against us, and the places it can take us. These two and a half hours felt like twenty minutes, and I’d recommend this to anyone who cares about cinema.
