Altered Beast (Switch version)

I have sympathy for the folks who made this game as the book on effective combat design in a 2D game hadn’t been written yet, and without guidance towards concepts like the importance of conveyance and feedback, having a bunch of beefy dudes doing shin kicks at mythical creatures sounds like an idea not to be immediately dismissed. That sympathy, however, doesn’t extend any farther than giving those considerations lip service while still pointing at the screen and going “look at this garbage they sold to us!”. The music is cool, I guess, but there’s better brawlers on the Genesis.
