Acasă, My Home

I wanted to like “Acasă, My Home” more than I did. The style of documentary filmmaking here, making use of high-end techniques and equipment to capture shots most would sooner associate with fictional works, is something I’m fond of, and there’s a hell of a story at the center of the film. It’s too slow, however, and that’s especially jarring as the film is under ninety minutes long. I found it difficult to remain engaged with the material and absorbed little outside the artistry on display. I don’t feel comfortable calling this a bad film, but I didn’t enjoy it.
