Absolum (Switch version)
Inconsistent and frustrating. Framerate issues on original Switch hardware haunt the game almost a month after release, a damning fault considering its gameplay systems—Streets 4 was no dynamo, but it never demanded as much precise timing as this game. Absolum’s take on roguelike power scaling, in fact, is worse than the Mr. X’s Nightmare DLC; while Streets 4 started you off as a demigod that became stronger by the wave, Absolum takes hours before it hits its stride. I think the story was supposed to pick up this slack, which it doesn’t. Some Streets magic remains, but disappointing overall.
